John Stanton
John Stanton has been involved in workplace relations since 1985. He has represented a wide range of industries including pharmaceutical, building and construction, health, local government, hospitality, retail and manufacturing.

John is an experienced advocate and has represented employers in State and federal tribunals including representation of employer interests in the award modernisation proceedings before the former Australian Industrial Relations Commission and its successor, Fair Work Australia. John has first- hand experience with the Fair Work Act and has acted for employers in matters under that Act involving unfair dismissal actions, transmission of business, adverse actions, disputes and enterprise bargaining.

John provides strategic advice to businesses in relation to occupational health and safety obligations including advice about compliance and investigations into workplace accidents and injuries. John has represented the interests of employers faced with prosecutions and has assisted those employers in their dealings with the prosecuting authority, the presentation of cases and defences.

John specialises in providing strategic industrial and employment law advice and representation to large companies and major clients of the firm. John is a regular contributor to several trade and human resource publications, such as HR Monthly, HR Leader, Human Capital, National Safety and Safety First.

John is a nationally accredited trainer and assessor having successfully gained Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. John regularly delivers public training workshops on a wide range of employment matters presented by Australian Business Lawyers & Advisors and also delivers in-house training programmes tailored to clients’ specific needs.

John is the author of “The Fair Work Act: a handbook,” “Enterprise Bargaining under the Fair Work Act” and “Termination of Employment: a handbook for your business”.
