Event Briefing:

The Work Health and Safety legislation commenced in a number of Australian States and Territories on 1 January 2012, with the remaining States following soon after. Once enacted, the new legislation applies to businesses throughout Australia.

The last six months hve seen a number of changes and developments in the new legislation through regulation, codes of practice and other amendments that bsuinesses should be aware of.



Event Content:

This training workshop will rpovide an overview of the range of activities employers should have undertaken in order to comply with the Work Health and Safety laws, including:

  • national OHS harmonisation;
  • an introduction to the Work safety Act and associated laws and regulations;
  • safety duties (or responsibilities) for employers and employees;
  • the meaning of the requirement to take "all reasonably practicable steps to manage risk" reporting;
  • consultation on "workplace arrangements"
  • right to refuse to do unsafe work; and
  • third party prosecutions.

The Training session will also include discussion and guidance on how to apply amendments to the Act.
