Marketing on a tight budget: Retain your clients

There are a number of clever ways that you can undertake marketing activities on a tight budget. Here is Part 4 of a 4-part series which discusses simple, effective marketing tips themed under four key areas: Find new clients, Engage your clients, Impress your clients and Retain your clients. Retain your clients

  1. Always engage and impress them (see previous articles!).
  2. Be prepared to ask clients for informal feedback, make notes and take action wherever you can.
  3. Consider providing your clients with a promotional offer either quarterly or a couple of times a year.
  4. Keep in contact regularly but don’t over-do it. Everyone is time-poor these days and we value our time dearly. Make sure you have a back-up reason for your call - if you catch them at a particularly busy time and they’re exasperated; it may not be such a positive interaction if you have just called up for a chat.
  5. Always ask for referrals.
  6. Think about sending your clients a random gift – when they’ve just got back from holidays or when their wife has had a baby will be much more memorable than a Xmas gift or card.
  7. Always add value whenever you can.
  8. Interview your clients for research and find a reason to extract information that you may need about your services but do it in the name of science.
